Parking Garage Pet Peeves

It’s really annoying when you’re walking to your car in a parking garage filled with parking spaces — all of which are convenient to stairs or an elevator — and someone stalks you from their car or asks you where you are going and if you’ll give them your spot. It should also be noted that this really only bothers me when I’m in a place where finding a parking space isn’t a problem at all (See: The Americana in Glendale on a weekday afternoon a.k.a. tons of free parking).

A gaggle of middle-aged women did this to me today. All I did as point to my car, which happened to be behind them, and continue walking. They tried backing up for a short time, but gave up and drove off. They must have realized they could drive an extra 20 feet or go up just one more level and see tons of spaces available. On the other hand, I suppose that would come with the inconvenience of spending an extra two seconds in the [very nice and clean] elevator to go from the fourth floor to the main level, instead of starting at the third.
